Dr Kim Sonntag is a qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in high risk obstetrics and fetal medicine.
Dr Sonntag graduated from the University of Cape Town as a medical doctor in 2006 and spent 2 years in Pietermaritzburg completing her internship. Her Community Service year was spent at Barberton Hospital in Mpumulanga, followed by a further 2 years of working in London, whilst travelling through Europe. She came back to South Africa in 2012 and completed 4 years specialist training at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. During this time, she achieved her Masters degree in surgical site infection post caesarean section.
Dr Sonntag is planning to complete a part time sub-specialisation in Maternal Fetal Medicine in the future and is passionate about educating and empowering women regarding their obstetric and gynaecological healthcare. She is an advocate for normal vaginal delivery where possible and willing to do vaginal births after caesarean section, given the right circumstances.
